Dr. Bishop Samuel Allen Holmes, Sr., is a native of Atlanta, GA.

Samuel was educated in the Atlanta Public School System, graduating from Northside High School Performing Arts in 1984.

Samuel continued his education at Metropolitan Atlanta Bible College and graduated from Seed Faith Theological Seminary with a Bachelors of Christian Education.  He also earned a Master's Degree of Theology from Seed Faith Theological Seminary.  Samuel earned a Doctorate of Christian Education in 2018.

He was ordained in August 1984.  In 1989, Elder Holmes joined Powerhouse of Deliverance Church of God in Christ.  Thereafter, Samuel Holmes was ordained Elder by the late Bishop Chandler Davis Owens. (Former Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ)  Elder Holmes served the church as a member of the Board of Trustees and the Voices of Power Recording Choir.  Dr. Holmes was appointed Chairman of the Men's Department, Chairman of the Minister's Council, and the Assistant Choir Director of the Sanctuary Choir.  Hearing the word from the Lord in 1993, Elder Holmes began the Greater Pentecostal Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Inc.  Elder Holmes was one of the first pastors to join the International Bible Believers Fellowship, Inc., under the leadership of the late Bishop M. J. Pace.  Elder Holmes served the body as the Second Administrative Assistant to the Presiding Bishop.

Elder Holmes has served as District Elder of Northern Georgia of the House of God Saints in Christ, Inc., under the leadership of Bishop Gus Ford.

In the year of 2000, Elder Holmes was appointed Bishop-Elect of the Alpha and Omega Pentecostal Churches.  In 2000, Samuel Holmes was officially consecrated to the office of Bishop by Presiding Bishop O. C. Coleman of the Alpha and Omega Pentecostal Churches.  He served the church as First Administrative Assistant to the Presiding Bishop.

In 2000, Bishop Holmes established the Greater Pentecostal Churches of Christ, Inc.

Dr. Holmes serves as the CEO of the HGPT Mentoring Services, Board Member of Seed Faith Theological Seminary, Chairman of the College of Bishops of Deliverance is Nigh Fellowship.

In 2016, Dr. Samuel Holmes was installed the pastor of Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Covington, GA.

Dr. Holmes serves his community as a Probation Officer with the Fulton County Juvenile Court since 1989.

Dr. Holmes is the proud husband of Shevelle Holmes, father of five children, and grandfather of seven.
